A perfume bottle on a transparent background, converted from WebP to PNG.

Purple perfume bottle with lilac flowers on a transparent background as a WebP file, 320 KB
BeforeWebP · 2,000 × 2,200 · 320 KB
The perfume bottle image converted to PNG, transparency kept, 3.4 MB
AfterPNG · 2,000 × 2,200 · 3.4 MB
  • Same 2,000 × 2,200 pixels
  • Transparency kept

The transparent background is kept exactly. PNG is lossless, so the file is larger.

  1. Add your WebP files.
  2. Press Convert.
  3. Download each PNG, or all of them as a ZIP.

What WebP to PNG does

Decodes each WebP, lossy or lossless, and saves it as a PNG. Every pixel, including its transparency, is stored losslessly.

When to use it

  • A website gave you a WebP logo, icon or sticker, and your app, editor or print service only accepts PNG.
  • You want a lossless working copy to edit, so later saves don’t add more loss.
  • You need transparency in a format that older software understands.

Good to know

  • Transparency (alpha) is carried over exactly, including soft edges and shadows.
  • A lossy WebP keeps any blur or blockiness it already has. PNG stops further loss but can’t restore detail.
  • Animated WebP: only the first frame is converted.

Lossy or lossless WebP: why it matters

WebP comes in two kinds. A lossless WebP converts to a PNG that is identical pixel for pixel. A lossy WebP was already simplified when it was saved, so the PNG is an exact copy of what you see, artifacts included.

Why the PNG is usually much bigger

WebP compresses more efficiently than PNG, and a lossy WebP has already thrown away data that PNG must then store in full. A photo-like WebP of 60 KB can easily become a PNG of several hundred KB. Flat graphics such as logos and icons grow far less. If size matters, shrink the result with Compress PNG, or keep the WebP.

PNG, JPG or keep the WebP?

Choose PNG for editing, printing, older software and anywhere that rejects WebP. Keep the WebP for websites: every current major browser displays it, and it’s smaller. For photos without transparency, WebP to JPG gives a much smaller file than PNG.

Privacy

Your files are processed inside your browser and not uploaded to any server. Closing or refreshing the page clears them. We don’t keep copies.

Limitations

  • Up to 10 files per batch, 50 MB each.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PNG larger than the WebP?

Usually, and often much larger, because PNG is lossless. Use Compress PNG if size matters.

Will transparency survive?

Yes. PNG supports full alpha, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they were.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. The PNG is an exact copy of what the WebP shows. It prevents further loss when you edit and re-save, but can’t restore detail.

What happens with an animated WebP?

The first frame is saved as a still PNG. The animation isn’t kept.
